Ball in a Basket

Ages: 3 and older
Objective: Toss a softball into a basket
Players: 2 or more
Materials: 4 baskets (2 for each player) and 6 softballs or wiffle balls

Rules: Have the guests behind a predetermined toss line. They toss the balls. They receive 2 points if they toss the ball into the top basket and 1 point if they toss the ball into the bottom basket. Top scored wins. If playing multiple rounds, have an ultimate winner for the series of country fair party games.



Ducks in a Row

Ages: 3 and older
Objective: Try to hit the ducks off of a pedestal
Players: 1 or more
Materials: Many rubber ducks, water guns

Rules: Set up your rubber ducks and have your guests attempt to shoot them off of the pedestal with a water gun. Can your guests hit down three before running out of water, if so they win a prize.



Face Painting

Ages: 2 and older
Objective: To have a fun looking face
Players: 1 at a time
Materials: Templates of pictures that can be painted on the person's face, face paint, multiple brushes or q tips for painting, an artist dedicated to the face painting area.

Rules: Try to select your choice picture, sit still while being painted (sometimes it tickles) and then try not to touch your face.

Ages: 2 and older
Objective: To have a fun looking face
Players: 1 at a time

Fish Bowl

Ages: 3 and older
Objective: To toss a ping pong ball into a cup to win a fish.
Players: 1 or more
Materials: Multiple cups with fish, ping pong balls

Rules: Have a table set up with tons of cups. Some of the cups have water in them and some have water with a live fish inside. Establish the area when your guest will toss from. Give your guest three ping pong balls to toss. If their ping pong ball lands on a cup with a fish they win the fish. (for these types of country fair party games you are able to substitute the real fish for a toy fish or other prize).



Giant Jenga

Ages: 3 and older
Objective: To keep the tower growing
Players: 2 or more
Materials: Large jenga pieces (you can make these out of wood or purchase them)

Rules: Pull a game piece out of the middle and place it on top. There are rows of three going back and forth in the pattern.



Gone Fishing

Ages: 3 and older
Objective: See how many fish you can catch under a certain time frame
Players: 1 or more
Materials: Kiddie pool, fish toys with magnets attached, a toy fishing rod with the corresponding magnet attached

Rules: Set a timer and let the fishing begin. How many fish can your guests catch and reel in under a time constraint? Have prizes for most fish caught, most blue, red and yellow fish, biggest fish, longest fish, smallest fish, etc.



Guessing Booth

Ages: All ages
Objective: To guess the number of candy in each jar
Materials: Have different clear jars filled with different types of candy, guessing cards with a pen

Rules: By only looking at the sealed jars guess how many candy is inside without going over. Whoever has the closest guess wins the jar of candy. I would suggest multiple jars with different types of candy that way you have multiple winners.



Hole in One

Ages: 3 and older
Objective: Using a golf ball and putter are you able to score a hole in one
Players: 1 or more
Materials: Golf ball, putter, mini putt training mat

Rules: Try out your guests skills on this mini putt skills game. Have them attempt to get a hole in one. If your guests are younger you may wish to change it to a par 3.



Hula Throw

Ages: 5 and older
Objective: To toss a ball or beanbag through the hula hoop. After each successful toss, the hoop gets further and further away.
Players: 2 or more
Materials: Hula Hoop, a ball: choose either a soccer ball or make it harder with a beach ball, ground markers

Rules: This game requires very little planning, but is both great for all ages and for competitive people. On the playing area form the starting line, make a mark every few feet out. Use whatever is available for a marker. Pylons work best, but even shoes will work.. When the game begins either the host or one of the players goes to the first marker and holds up the hula hoop. Having the same person be the holder is more fair, but that person can get tired. If this is the case hold the hoop with it touching the ground. Once the hoop is in place the first player will then attempt to throw the ball through the hoop. They may throw in any fashion they wish. If he or she is successful then the person holding the hoop moves back to the next marker. This continues until the player misses. Make a note to which marker each player passes the ball. The player with the furthest throw wins.



Knock Down

Ages: 3 and older
Objective: To toss a ball or beanbag to knock down a stack of cans
Players: 1 or more
Materials: Cans or objects that can stack into a pyramid and an object to hit them with like a ball or bean bag.

Rules: Set up the cans into a pyramid formation. Create a tossing zone for your guests. Then let your guests have three tosses to see if they win a prize. You win a prize if all the objects have been knocked over.



Petting Zoo

Ages: 2 and older
Objective: Enjoy and learn about animals
Materials: Living animals or stuffed animals

Rules: Your first major decision is if this zoo is having living animals or stuffed animals. If you are doing stuffed animals, create a cozy corner area for your guests to snuggle with the stuffed animals. If you are using living animals you will need a trained supervisor to tend to this area for the whole party. You are often able to rent baby chicks, turkeys, goats, bunnies, puppies and miniature horses depending on where you live. Make sure you double check if you need any special permits beforehand.



Potato Sack Race

Ages: 4 and older
Objective: To hop down a race track in a potato sack. The first racer over the finish line wins.
Players: 2 or more
Materials: Potato sack, start and end point

Rules: All racers get their own potato sack. Participants stand inside and hold the sack up with their hands. Everyone lines up at the start line. When the race begins the racers hop along the race. If a racer trips they get up and continue racing. Whoever hops down the raceway and crosses the finish line first wins the race.



Ring Toss

Ages: 3 and older
Objective: To toss a ring over an object to win a prize
Players: 1 or more
Materials: A set of rings and a number of objects to toss the rings towards. You could use smaller objects like sodas and glow bracelets or larger hopscotch rings and pink flamingos. Be creative to fit your party theme.

Rules: Set up the bottles (or object of your choice) that the guests go toss the rings towards. Make sure beforehand that the rings can be caught or hooked onto the object for a win. Establish a tossing point from which the tosser stands. Then ask the guest to toss the rings. If you hook the object your guest wins a prize.



Three Legged Race

Ages: 5 and older
Objective: Players participate in a three legged race where racers are paired and the players have one of their legs tied to the other person's leg.
Players: 4 or more
Materials: Strong ribbon, scarves or old neck ties

Rules: Tell players to pick a partner. However, if you feel you should pick the teams then try to match pairs evenly. (example: height, weight, strength etc.). Assist players to tie two of their legs together, one at the ankle or another just below the knee works best. Check all the players legs before beginning the race for fairness and safety. When the race begins, players must work together and try to run down the race track without falling. Players will not be penalized for falling. Preferably play on grass like a soccer field or big backyard. The first team across the finish line wins.



Train Ride

Ages: All ages
Objective: Enjoy a train ride
Materials: Lawn tractor, mini train cars that attach to a lawn tractor

Rules: You are able to rent the train parts to pull your guests around your lawn. Remember to go over safety rules before each train ride. Drive slowly and these types of activity are such fun country fair party games.



Tug of War

Ages: 5 and older
Objective: To pull a rope with a team over the center point to demonstrate strength
Players: 2 or more
Materials: A large thick rope, markers for the middle, and two win lines (one for each team)

Rules: All players line up holding the rope (you need two even teams). After a countdown each team pulls as hard as they can trying to move the rope to their side. If the rope middle passes their score line they are the winning team. Please always go over the safety rules before game play.



Wheelbarrow Race - Country Fair Party Games

Ages: 7 and older
Objective: Paired players participate in a wheelbarrow race where one of the players holds the legs of the other and the other player must then use their hands to make it down the race track.
Players: 4 or more
Materials: Strength and coordination

Rules: Tell players to pick a partner. However, if you feel you should pick the teams then try to match pairs evenly. (example: height, weight, strength etc.). Have players line up at the starting line. Teams must decide who will carry the legs and who will use their hands. Have one player from each team lie down on their belly with their hands out but behind the start line. Try to play on a grass area. Have the other team mate then pick up their legs. Usually at the ankles, or the ankles tucked under their arms. When the race begins, players will then attempt to work together to make it down the race track. Teams will not be penalized for falling. The first team across the finish line wins.
