My Little Pony Cake

The theme My Little Pony is an exciting and fun theme for a children's party and a My Little Pony cake would be a great addition to an assortment of sweets and treats. We have two cake options for you to use as inspiration for creating your own. The My Little Pony Cake was made using a horse cake pan and my daughter’s favorite colors. The My Little Pony Rainbow Cake was submitted for Sarah’s birthday and has a fun marshmallows and smarties design. Click on one of the cakes for more information:

My Little Pony Cake

My Little Pony cake

I made this horse birthday cake for my daughter, who loves horses and pink. She loved the delicious cake and was happy that I used her favorite colors of pink (for the hair) and purple (for the saddle). All the little girls at the party were so happy and named the My Little Pony Cake - Pink Princess because they thought it was so pretty.

To make this cake, begin by mixing together yellow cake batter. When mixing together, beat for two or three minutes to make sure everything is fully incorporated. Then, grease the horse pan from Wilton to make sure the cake does not stick and easily comes out. Once fully baked, allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes before removing from the pan. To know when the cake is ready to remove, the edges should slightly shrink. Gently use a butter knife to remove the sides from the pan. Then, flip the cake pan onto a cooling rack and remove the pan.

For the icing, take vanilla icing and divide it into four bowls. One for blue, pink, purple, and white (no food coloring needed for white). Add a few drops of blue, pink, and purple to the designated bowls, this way you will not add too much at once and overpower the colors.

When applying the icing, begin with the eye and inside of the ear. In these areas, add a small mixture of water and cornstarch to smooth out the icing. Use a Wilton tip #3 for the nostril. Then, use a #5 and #10 piping tip for the bridal and then smooth it out with a small mixture of water and cornstarch. For the rest of the cake use a #3 piping tip. Next, use a #16 piping tip to cover the horse with a repeated star design, making the appearance of short hair. Then, use a #18 piping tip create the mane, thinking about the layers of hair that need to be piped.

Enjoy your My Little Pony cake or as the guests were excited to call it - Pink Princess.

My Little Pony Rainbow Cake

My Little Pony Rainbow cake

Sarah loved her My Little Pony Rainbow Cake. As I am not an artist, buying figurines (ponies, cars, dinosaurs) is the best way for me to make kids cakes fun and easy. I used chocolate frosting for the base. Then, I added smarties for the rainbow. When using marshmallows for the clouds, I just needed to squish them down together. This way they would not fall off. I then just added coloured vanilla frosting around the edges and for the writing. I was very happy with the finished result. I am the official cake maker for the kids in my family now. I am going to make a race car cake soon. I really love this website. It has given me great ideas. Even if I tweak them a little bit. The easier the better. The kids' happy faces makes it all worth it. I hope this has given someone a step in the right direction.
