Pokemon Party

As much as kids love video games … kids love the Japanese creation of Pokemon (created from combining Pocket Monster). The Pokemon have grown to include 493 fictional species. All of the kids understand the language of the Pokemon, love their adventures, and all the merchandise that goes along with the Pokemon Empire. What child would not love to have and attend a Pokemon party.

Pokemon Games and Activities

  • When all the guests arrive they become a Pokemon each with their own special powers.
  • Pokemon Trainer - Go into training mode. Set up an obstacle course for the guests to train and master their skills. Use a combination of hula hoops, skipping ropes, wet sponges to toss into buckets, etc.
  • Pokeball Design - Spherical tool which helps the Pokemon. Create and make your own Pokeball that will help in battle. Get a bowl full of smooth foam balls. Then beside have a printout of popular designs of pokeballs. Your guests can either replicate one already in existence or create their own.
  • Hunt for Missing Poke Balls - Create a scavenger hunt using a number of homemade Poke balls (e.g., golf balls or Styrofoam balls – paint with red and black). If you are already having the design their own, print out pictures of the pokemon characters. Hide them high and low throughout your party zone. Set the guests loose to find all the hidden items.
  • Insect Collecting - Everyone needs a bug collector to help collect bugs to add to your Pokemon team, since the Pokemon are created from bugs.
  • Depending on the season, for a craft, create a Pokemon. On a folded piece of paper cursive write each person's name. Open up the paper and write the mirror image of the person’s name. From here this is the outline of the newest Pokemon. Don’t forget to name your newest creation.
  • Pokemon Power - Either from empty cardboard boxes or wood (plywood, mdf, etc.) create a bean bag toss. Paint on the outside different Pokemon characters. The object of the game is to see who can feed the Pokemon the most bean bags for power and strength.
  • Pin the Tail on Pikachu - Play like pin the tail on the donkey (or choose your favorite Pokemon character)
  • Pokemon Master - Once a battle is completed there will be a Pokemon Master created. Create some Master cookies – decorate your own.
  • Caterpie Estimation - Have a mason jar or any clear type of jar. Fill it with gummy worms and have your guests estimate how many are in the jar. The person with the closest guess wins the jar.
  • Gotta Catch ‘em All - Find two bowls or baskets in red and white. I often look at discount stores for these types of items. Then label these with a certain amount of points. Set up a throwing distance guideline with either a pylon or painters tape. Then have the guests toss pokeballs to see their score. They can each make 5 tosses to tally up.
  • Pin the Tail on Pikachu - Have a large picture of pikachu and try to cover eyes and pin his tail on the correct spot.
  • Balloon Stomper - Players become a balloon stomper and try to stomp and pop balloons tied to their opponents feet.
  • Battle - Learn some battle fighting moves. Use foam swords etc.
  • Watch a Pokemon Movie and eat some popcorn. Set up a whole concession stand. This will be a hit. Have little cute containers to fill with all the candy and popcorn. Of course, have a variety of drinks available as well.

Pokemon Party Food

  • Apples for Shroomish
  • Pokemon pizza - make half cheese, half pepperoni and then have a single row of black olives as a divider between the two halves
  • Jifflypuff puffs - use cheese puff balls

  • Charmander cheetos - cheetos

  • Oreo pops - dip oreos into melted candy melts. Do one side red, the other white and pipe black in the center
